This article is for anyone who enlists the services of a psychic, not just those who choose to work with me. Working with a psychic or intuitive can provide great insight, but it can also provide some unpleasantness. This article is about two primary results of an unaffirming relationship with psychics – scams and dependency.
Fear-Based Approaches/Scams
First off, an ethical, legitimate psychic is not going to use fear tactics to get more money from you. This means an ethical psychic is not going to tell you, “I found a curse, and if you pay me an extra $1000 I will clear it for you!” Be wary of offers like that. In my own work, if something shows up in a reading, it’s often because I have permission to provide some kind of healing for it – and I go ahead and do so, knowing the client can also choose to cancel out the clearing. If a psychic offers to take care of some scary-sounding thing for more money, take your business elsewhere. Such people are not typically working from love, or they aren’t working from love to approach things that way.
Empowerment
Another potential outcome has to do with empowerment and dependency. An ethical psychic is one who will provide feedback you can apply to your life, but will not remove your power to choose the shape of your life. Also, an ethical psychic will realize there is only so much we as psychics can do. At every point, your life will be the sum total of the choices you make (that applies to us as well). If you do not act to shift your experience, things are likely to stay the same – even if you may feel uplifted and inspired during a reading, without action to support your desired outcomes, that lovely feeling will fade and you’ll be right back where you were.
I cannot speak for every psychic, but my own ultimate goal is to provide heart-centered empowerment. I appreciate how uplifting my offers seem to be for my clients, and I also enjoy seeing my client shift to a higher rate of vibration. But these readings are typically meant to be more than a temporary uplifting influence. In most cases, the reading is offered so you can feel clearer about your options to act, so it may be easier to actually do so. If you are unsettled about something and you choose to get reading after reading, this may lead to having more trouble acting to shift your situation. If you allow a reading to fill you up with good feelings, but you choose to keep the fundamental patterns the same, not much is going to change.
Then you’re likely to want to come back for more. Honestly, that would be good for business, but is not my goal in providing these offers. My goal is not to provide a temporary emotional high that clients will want to return to. My overall goal is to provide information clients can use to act in their own best interest to achieve their goals. I do my best to remind my clients that you are each ultimately in charge of your life, your experience, your emotions. To show my clients how they might shift their experience and perspective so they can feel more of an emotional high a greater amount of time, without calling on the services of a psychic. You might say my overall goal is to make my services obsolete!
Decision-Making
Clients who continue to seek out the services of a psychic will often have more trouble making decisions. Sometimes there is great value in learning to work through a confusing situation with our own inner resources. Even as a psychic, I cannot reveal to you anything that does not exist within you already. I appreciate greatly a chance to provide clarity to my clients, but I do suggest that you remember you also have the answers within, even if you choose to enlist the services of a psychic. I also understand that it’s often much easier to call on a psychic when we’re in the middle of a situation, but my point is to keep in mind we each do have the answers within.
Every Situation is Unique
Some psychics have a blanket policy about additional readings for existing clients. I contemplated that approach, but circumstances are often unique. Sometimes it may be too soon for another reading, especially if you’re still implementing ideas to shift your circumstances. Sometimes my spirit guides will tell me another reading is appropriate. It depends on the unique situation and what my guidance suggests. I provide these services to make a positive impact in the world, to offer what Spirit identifies as useful for that current point in time.
Questions to Ponder as You Seek Services from a Psychic
But my work is collaborative – it is a partnership. You are in charge of what you ultimately do with, and get from, these services. As you explore psychics, I suggest continuing to ask yourself whether the situation is aligned with fear/dependency or love/empowerment. Do you feel like you maintain your power to choose? Does the psychic offer ideas that could potentially resolve the situation, or is the entire reading all about comfort with no ideas for action? Is the psychic encouraging you to become a repeat customer, or offering information that could possibly resolve your concern?
Not everyone who offers services as a psychic does so in an ethical way. The points offered here are intended to help you as you consider working with a psychic, and are offered for those who have gotten readings, so you may be aligned with your own love and power.
